COMMUNITY // CULTURE // CONNECTION

"Facts are for the unimaginative."

~Leigh Bardugo, Six of Crows

I am a very hands-on learner… I love to read, question, and be challenged. I am also a nurturer by nature. I consider myself a role model for others, and a compassionate friend.

Academic Pursuits

Our middle school program includes Interdisciplinary Studies where we examine unit themes through project work, ELA (my favorite subject), Math, Science, STEM and Spanish as well as community service. Below are some of my favorite projects!

Voice Unit

I think the biggest part of myself and my learning is that I love to ask questions. Like if we’re learning about a decision someone made in history, I won't just hear it and accept it. I’m always asking myself “Why did this happen, Who made this happen, etc.”

In this PBL unit on “Voice”, I chose to study the concept of “Voice” for women and asked the question: “HOW HAS WOMEN’S FASHION CHANGED OVER TIME ALONG WITH THEIR SOCIAL STATUS?

Can’t Help Myself

by: Sun Yuan and Peng Yu

Here’s an essay I wrote about my favorite art piece.

Español

I’m very passionate about world issues and also languages. This project, created in Spanish, is about one of my favorite foods: Tacos!

Montessori Model UN

I participated in MMUN when I was in Upper Elementary. I enjoy learning about current events and enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. I was part of The Food and Agriculture Organization Committee representing the country of Argentina. Click below to read my position paper.

Food Security for All

Another year, I participated on the “Social, Humanitarian & Cultural” Committee for The Republic of Estonia. Click below to read my position papers.

Improving the Coordination of Efforts Against Trafficking in Persons

Elimination of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance

After School

I love to travel and spend time with my family and friends. I’ve been going to sleep-away camp for 6 years and one of the things I love most is the connections I make there. I have made stronger friendships by living with someone for 3 weeks than I have by going to school with someone for 6 years.

This year, I visited Thailand. I even made a new furry (monkey) friend!

Family

I have two siblings and what I love most about them is that no matter how close or far apart we are, they are always there for me. My sister lives in Florida and my brother goes to Boarding School 7 hours away. Even though we are hundreds or thousands of miles apart, I can always reach out to them with any problems I am having. I love them more than life and I have no clue where I would be without them.
